Richie Mensah (The Artist)

Born in 1986 and raised in Accra, Ghana, Richie developed a strong love for music at the tender age of six and performed on various platforms with his siblings, but it was whilst studying Science in Achimota Senior High School, an elite and highly selective co-educational high school in Accra, that he made his decision to turn this talent into a profession.

Richie released his debut album ‘All of Me’ in 2008. The album featured hit singles ‘Frema’, ‘When I Get You’ and ‘Dirty Dance’. The release of this album established Richie as one of the hottest R&B stars on the Ghanaian music scene and led to award nominations at the 2009 Ghana Music Awards for ‘Discovery of the Year’, ‘Best Male Vocal’, ‘Hip Hop Song of the Year’, ‘Afro Pop Song of the Year’ and ‘Collaboration of the Year’. He also won ‘Male Music Star of the Year’ award at the 2009 Joy FM’s Nite with the Stars.

His sophomore album ‘UKNR’ was released in May 2010 and featured hit singles ‘Yaaro’,(which became an instant hit as young people related to the lyrics of the song which describe Richie’s struggles as a young musician and entrepreneur.) ‘Asa Fofro’ featuring SK Blinks, ‘Ma Nim Ton’ featuring Tinny and ‘Intoxicated’ featuring Sway which was nominated for ‘Hip Hop Song of the Year’ at the 2011 Ghana Music Awards.

In 2010 Richie made a pledge to help encourage young kids fulfill their dreams and aspirations and has set about doing that by first of all making a statement with his song Yaaro and joining up with charitable organizations which seek to help kids develop their talents.

Using his ladies’ man image, his charming persona and his smooth voice, Richie Mensah has been able to embed his name firmly in the history books of the Ghanaian music industry.
